  The Public Talks

  i remember when i use to give a number of public talks.

  i had a binder with every public talk listed by number in it.

  i don't have it anymore.. when i did the fade in 2002 after 33 years a slave since 1969. i destroyed all my watchtower materials and i had a lot.

  CG : My question now is,how many of those talks are now obsolete?

  I know one for sure. The first one I gave in 1970, "The Appointed Times of the Nations Have Been Fulfilled".

  I can still remember all the scriptures to prove 1914 was the pivotal year though I cannot recall anything about overlapping generations. It was an exciting time for me. I was only 18 at the time. Burned into my memory like a first kiss.

  Yup, I'm quite sure that public talk is obsolete. If I had started talking about an overlapping generation, and explained it with a chart, I would have been thrown out the front door.

  i intend for this to be one of a series of bite-sized ops on the evidence for evolution.. introduction to dna genes are sequences of dna made up of words (codons) each of which are three letters (bases) long.

  there are only four letters in the genetic alphabet (acg&t) each word or codon is the recipe for one amino acid.

  there are 20 different amino acids in living organisms.

  That is one of the most incredible statements I have heard all day and that is saying something.

  It beats:

  - the kid next door, " Our house cost a bazillion dollars."

  - Bert in accounting describing the new secretary, : "She's as thin as a toothpick."

  - Grandma telling Grandpa, " Your walking slower than a snail."

  A billion times larger than all the atoms in the known universe. All of them. It can't be hyperbole as it has been calculated. Very carefully I trust.

  How many here think Trump's news conference this evening was absolutely brilliant

  i'm being serious, i would like to hear from folks here that support him describe to me how that news conference was absolute brilliance, he answered all the questions, he knows what he is talking about.

  just want to compare note with those who aren't his supporters (and have common sense) as you know this forum is here to hear both sides, so, have at it .

  1980s Brochure/magazine on demon possession?

  does anyone else remember a brochure/ magazine from the early 80s with stories of demon possessed individuals and spiritism ?

  i dont think i saw it around very long.

  it had a story about some lady having her head snapped around by a demon.

  They will ask what he was thinking about when he was doing this. They will ask if he was enjoying this activity. They will ask about the size and shape of her nipples.

  The elders don't have to ask these questions. The sinners wife will be asking these questions over and over again for a very, very long time to come.

  They were looking for cheap ties.... I don't know if that actually breaks the rules.

  Cheap ties tend to be loud and obnoxious. Probably would break some dress code rule.

  A thrift store down the street is run by members of a small, local Christian congregation. Evangelical but not sure what religion they are affiliated with. They have set up the store as a non-profit and have a specific use for the funds they acquire. They visit old age homes on Sunday, every Sunday, for music sessions and snacks. Bring the guitars and kids with them and mingle with the elderly.

  They also have adopted small Christian congregations in Mexico, Cuba and Romania. The send $1000.00 a month to each of these small groups as well as visit them periodically and arrange for regular small groups of their teens to go to the adopted congregations and fellowship with them as well as have Bible study programs for a week or so. They bring some of these Mexicans, Cubans and Romanians to Canada for short trips to get away from the poverty they are living in and give them a break. They are a happy lot. Volunteer spirit always shines when you are around them.

  My question.

  What would happen to a Jehovah's Witness congregation if they took it upon themselves to set up a thrift store, adopt three congregations in poorer countries and developed a faith building relationship with their adopted brothers and sisters, TOTALLY separate from any control or instructions from the Watchtower Headquarters?
